Summer

Wraps its legs

Around mine

Like an old lover,

Warm hands

     on my face,

Soft breath

      in my ear,

Singing siren songs

Of honeysuckle

      and thyme …

Pollen dreams.

Lies. 

In the glitter of its teeth

       winter smiles.

II.

Midnight.

Endings

Beginnings.

Middles.

Todays,

       tomorrows,

             yesterdays.

Now.

Never.

III.

I would write out

my life for you,

if there were anything

to tell.

Memory

is a junkyard dog,

lying in the dark,

dreaming of blood.
