“Allison”
She runs to me with giggling curls,
with all the charms of little girls
And waits for me to tell her true
“Allison, I love you!”
We love and laugh the whole day through,
there is not much that we don’t do.
And when we she comes to stay with me,
Allison reminds me she is three.
This three year old loves lots of things
Running, jumping, playing on swings.
Never tiring from playing with Pa!
“Allison, you run me raw!”
I’ve known my precious girl of three
Since she was born giggling with glee.
Herculean in strength is the love we share
“Allison, I’m always there.”
Yet, lately when I’ve called her name
The look she gives is not the same.
The pain grows in my heart and mind,
“Allison, are you fine?”
With the courage of a three year old
She stood straight and tall and oh, so bold!
“Oh Pa!” She said, “You don’t know me!”
“Allison, don’t scare me!”
With hands on hips this child of three,
Drew in a great breath and glared at me!
“What has happened? Shall we play a game?”
“Allison is not my name!”
My heart was saved and laughter ensued!
“I’ve played this game since you were two!
I have always loved you my little one,
My one and only Madison!”
Be always safe,
Karen
