This New Gentleman

He said he places me on a high pedestal

Won't cross the red line to temptation

To preserve our relation to steer away from aggravation

Either he's a gentleman with manners I’m not immune to or this dude got a dude or a chick hiding in the sticks playing it too cool

He said he's persistent to change his old ways, that today is a new day, that I’m a challenge he enjoys, that I’m a special girl with a bright future even Stevie Wonder could admire

He said he respects our common bond that brought us this far and it's nothin he's ever been blessed with before

I mean, brotha got a point our foundation is of a rarity, the slightest misjudgment could possibly misjudge us but a chick got needs the shower won't cover

So either I play it cool or act like a fool but that ain’t cool so I'll do what I do and sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery before it expires...

If we prosper, if we hit the mark neither one of us has won, cause we're so use to f***in without feeling not taking ourselves serious

I shouldn't even continue to write this, put this in the unfinished, unpublished pile but I would be denying truths entrance because I adore him..

Feelin all 6'8 from the pretty groomed feet to the chiseled strong chest to the arms that offer safety and reassurance from the smile that gets a sista ready to take in all pleasure to the mind I love to tap into because he thinks the way I do and we connect like something vicious

Can it get any close to ideal, any closer to the real, any close to the descriptions big brother and I use to describe last summer

So I got a gentleman on my hands, under my nose, opening the doors, spending his change on me to feed my hunger, always on my phone, sending sweet messages every sunrise every sunset, respecting my talent pushing me to the extent of disbelief because any old dude would be jealous and selfish with support

If I wasn't cautious and just getting over this hangover I would say our future together is made but I'll save that conformation for another day..

The day we choose to accept our fate and thank it

So until then, I'll play it cool and dream and appreciate the gentleman I have up under me
