Hero/ Soldier

He is a soldier and his smile you might never forget. Coming home you find him in many places. A guard in a convenience store. The hero in the chaos when we all ran. The father at ballgame. He has seen the unthinkable heard the noise of war. He is quiet with soft lines in his face. He is a solider and he has lost some friends. Coming home he knows the trouble we never see. He knows the war and the world it is suppose to free. He is a solider once the kid down the street. Often the old man sitting under a tree. He is a solider having returned home free.

I agree with Jerry that this says a lot about those who have been up close and personal with horror and then come back to make sure that their world here is peaceful and safe.

Unfortunately, many are troubled by what they've seen and done. Those, too, have to be honored for their service and given a chance to do what you have so nobly described--mentor us all.
