Left in the Dust

I was left in the dust,
I was alone and afraid;
My body was numb,
My heart, ached of pain.

Then out of nowhere, there you were.
You took me by the hand
Took me out of my little world,
Hanging, by just a strand.

With new found hope and courage,
I put my trust in you.
You helped me to my feet again,
We started out from new.

You gave me back the will to live,
The sparkle was back in my eyes.
You took away all the pain
And all the tormenting lies.

But then you slowly started to fade,
I watched you leave my side.
I was alone and scared again,
I only hid and cried.

Maybe you thought since things were better,
You'd leave me like everyone else
Hoping I'd get along on my own,
Alone, with only myself.

You broke your promise; told my secrets,
Betrayed me after all.
I didn't want to believe what you did,
You made me stand so proud and tall!

So once again I have no one there,
Once again someone broke my trust.
Once again I'm all alone,
I'm left in the dust.

but maybe my dear you are a little stronger. Each time we are knocked down we come up a little wiser.
A wonderful write.
