"Red Roof For Real" is a soulful, R&B-inspired tribute to the legendary red-roof logo atop a well-known restaurant venue in Pawling, NY. — alive with music that blows the roof off.. More than a landmark, it’s a symbol of heart, mystique, and the rhythm that brings people together. May it never become an “abandoned luncheonette”

Red Roof For Real by Gloria Buono-Daly (C) 2024)

*(Verse 1)*

Sound hit hard, red roof logo ripped the sky
I feel the tremble, joy made me cry…
We all need a roof over our heads,
But red roof's got soul that shines
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
I drive by, even just a quick see…
I feel near is where I want to be….

*(Pre-Chorus)*
It lifts with good, drops with blues,
Breathes in rhythm, sings our TUNES…
Red roof that loves, that feels —
That red roof moves, Red Roof For Real…

*(Chorus)*
Red Roof may not be my home, but it’s got soul,
Pumps the vibe when music rolls.
Every note, every shout,
Blows the roof up and out.
Holds our stories, leaves its mark.
Doesn’t just stand there playin’ a part —
Red Roof shines, Red Roof For Real
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...

*(Verse 2)*
Whenever bands come out to play,..
The place rocks, RED ROOF GRIPS THE SKY
We all need a roof over our heads,
But red roof's got soul that shines…

 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
I drive by, even just a quick see
I feel near is where I want to be

*(Pre-Chorus)*
It lifts with good, drops with blues,
Breathes in rhythm, sings our TUNES…
Red roof that loves, that feels —
That red roof moves, Red Roof For Real…

*(Chorus)*
Red Roof may not be my home, but it’s got soul,
Pumps the vibe when music rolls.
Every note, every shout,
Blows the roof up and out.
Holds our stories, leaves its mark.
Doesn’t just stand there playin’ a part —
Red Roof shines, Red Roof For Real

*(Bridge)*
From a mile away, I still get chills,
From that red roof so vibrant yet still
It jumps with every beat,
As if souls beneath my feet…
Red roof’s alive, Red Roof For Real…

ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...

*(Chorus)*
Red Roof may not be my home, but it is all soul,
It echoes with joy, it makes me whole.
It don’t just stand, it feels, it sings,
It leans with life, it’s everything.
So don’t forget when nights fall dark —
Red Roof’s alive, Red Roof For Real
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...

 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...

*(FINAL CHORUS/OUTRO)*

When no roof feels like home,
Red roof stands strong like stone.
Names don’t matter — it’s passion we feel,
He keeps music alive, makes magic real.
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...

 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...

*(ECHOING OUTRO)*
It beats... it breathes... it feels... it leaves...
That red roof’s alive — Red Roof For Real

FIRST TIME I saw IT, I SAID how unique
Like a striking LAMBO on mountaintop peak.

Everybody should see it, everybody should feel,
That red roof’s got magic — Red Roof For Real.
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...

 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...
 ROO-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-FA-DI-DI-DA...

*(INSTRUMENTAL FADE OUT)*

*(END OF SONG)*

Reviews of "a-Music - Red Roof For Real by Gloria Buono-Daly (C) 2024"

Déjà vu… when I was going regularly, 1967-69, to San Francisco on Saturdays from my apartment on the Peninsula, I discovered what may have been a restaurant, turned into a haven for the electronic blues of the Summer of Love. Inappropriately called the Swiss Chalet, it had all the brick a brack of a mountainside chalet in Switzerland.

I don't recall what band was playing, it could have been the Grateful Dead for all I knew… but the walls were vibrating warm and inviting to dance… so I took my Swedish maiden date there and we danced until she ordered a stronger drink and got drunk.

On most Saturday nights I was alone. After going to a play, another bar or amusement, or movie, I would, in the hours after midnight, drive way across the city almost to Daly City where there was an after hours restaurant that looked very much like a Denny's today, with a red tile roof and appropriately named Red Roof.

I would order a coffee and cream cheese dessert and nurse it as I watched the wildly dressed characters come in, probably still in costume from various theaters around town. It was a heady time to be in San Francisco.
