For adult children of addiction trying to make their way.

Seems like each time she turns around there is another critical voice in her face. 

When does enough become Enough?

Must be the result of Answers they didn’t want to hear. Logic says, they should have never asked the Questions then.  The gift she gave to all of them should have made the Difference.

Happiness comes from within.

So, how is it then?
A strong individual, she once was, a few critical words too many and, now, she has fallen, all due to words from someone she thought loved her and did not place judgment upon her.  Over and over again, she tries. 

This is what happens when a little girl of an alcoholic seeks approval from those she loves without condition. For, in every other relationship in this life, it seems, there are Conditions that remain unspoken.

Her heart may break each time they criticize her ways.  Yet she tries so hard to over achieve and do more than she is even capable.  Each time she tries, she gets knocked down by words of disapproval.

She stands up again and again, again and again, over and over again.  She stands strong and goes on.  

Yet each time, a little piece of her heart is left lying on the ground as their words of judgment and disapproval linger in her mind.

Yet still she stands strong, over and over again.

This is for all the adult children of addiction who need encouragement that their life is not a product of their parents' life.  My only lesson is that those I have let into my heart, I shall never allow to hurt me again.
