Good morning Mr Magpie,
How’s the wife and family?
I wonder if you ever think,
To ask the same of me?
I’d have to tell you honestly,
I wouldn’t want to lie,
But things ain’t been so good,
Since my darling said goodbye,
Oh I should have seen it coming,
But it took me by surprise,
‘Cause I believed each thing she said,
I bought each pack of lies,
When she told me that she loved me,
And she’d be mine faithfully,
Well good morning Mr Magpie,
How’s the wife and family?
Now if you’re wondering why I’m sitting,
On this park bench all alone,
I’m trying to build the courage up,
To make my way back home,
I just can’t face that empty house,
And home we used to share,
Now that I know she lied each time,
She told me that she cared,
Well I guess I had it coming,
And I’ve just myself to blame,
They told me she’s a cheater,
But I loved her just the same,
I thought that I would be the one,
To make her change her ways,
Mr Magpie what’s the going rate,
For stupidity these days?
Look closely Mr Magpie,
Tell me do you see a sign,
That say’s look here come a sucker,
Take this guy for every dime?
He wears rose coloured glasses,
And his heart upon his sleeve,
Good morning Mr Magpie,
How’s the wife and family?
It seems she had another man,
In almost every town,
And several in our neighbourhood,
When I was not around,
And so many people knew it,
But they didn’t like to say,
‘Cause they knew I’d never believe them,
If they told me anyway,
To me she was an angel,
Just how blind can one man be?
Good morning Mr Magpie,
How’s the wife and family?
