SWANS ARE MORE THAN THEY SEEM

So many words I have wasted over the years.
So many vain attempts to uncover the truth.
So many clever clues, clandestine revelations.
How many misunderstood intentions
and apparently contrary positions,
the result of misguided misdirection?
But then, when finally I comprehended
what all of it was about:
Because, I realized: It was too private to share.
No one else could have possibly understood
even if I'd wanted them to.

Vita pergit. (Life goes on.)
Accipio res ut sunt. (I accept things as they are.)
Alone, but not completely alone. Not entirely.
As essential as intimacy.

I know. It's not much like Bukowski or Emily Dickinson.
And, while echoing the sentiments of Mr. Lennon (All You Need Is Love)

Notice how in the middle of this rather critical soliloquy
Then suddenly he reverts back to conversational first person.
Seriously though, this is just more "happily ever after" bullshit.

This is very meaningful to me, moving, engaging, soul-reaching. I feel (with respect) as though it could have been I sitting on that bench and "composing" these verses/lyrics. Thank you for sharing your gift, Mark. Love, peace, and serenity,

namaste,

Regis. 🙏

WRITING A POEM THAT NO ONE WILL READ
IS EXACTLY LIKE MAKING GESTURES IN THE DARK.
This shall be my final poem. 🦢 I am done making gestures in the dark. 🔳
If you're interested in understanding it, I suggest that you follow the links.◀

🔳 "I've little or no pleasure, to speak of, in writing, no joy in weaving words into metre,
whether it's the fact I've reaped no profit from it, that makes this thing the source of my misfortunes,
or that writing a poem you can't read to anyone is exactly like making gestures in the dark."
Ovid (A Roman poet who spent much of his life in exile after offending Augustus Caesar)

"If some dreams cease to be, Life doesn't end. It doesn't die." ⛅
Gopaldas Neeraj (20th century Indian poet)

"I just believe in me. Yoko and me. And that's reality. The dream is over." ⛅
John Lennon ("God")

I decided to create pages for my two poems from 2021-2022 that were worth posting:
"Swan Song 🦢" b/w "Thanksgiving at Barley Street 🦃"

"Swan Song" will be my last poem, and it's mostly about giving up on my dream of being a poet.
It is followed by a somewhat humorous, somewhat harsh critique, which is intended to provide a final
explanation of my Inner Conflicts. It's rather difficult to understand though, unless you follow the links.
The poetry video at the bottom is my latest. It is called "My Quiet Place". 🦋

"Thanksgiving at Barley Street" starts out being about memories of a local bar that is now closed,
and some friends who've passed away. But the ending is about dealing with Nostalgia.
It contains LOTS of links to photos and videos from Barley Street Tavern and other Omaha venues.
The music video at the bottom is for my solo piano piece, "Never Again". 🦢

"I suppose I wrote these two poems and tried to let the world know about them
for the sake of closure. But now I'm done pretending I have an audience."
Carmen Cygni 🦢

And here is a word from our sponsor, E. Nigma's Missing Pieces: ❓
🧩There is a key to the symbols I use: 🤡 🧙🏻‍♂️ 🚶🏻‍♂️ 🦢 😞 🦋, at the bottom of my "Who I Am" article.
🦢 And don't miss my FINAL message at the very end of my commentary for "Id vs. Ego / Anagnorisis".
🧙🏻‍♂️ You might as well go ahead and read the whole durn thing as long as you're there.

NOTE: My AuthorsDen pages are better viewed on a PC 💻 than on a "smart" phone.

P.S. I expected "Swan Song" to be my last but I wrote two more short poems in 2023.
"La Vie Sans Rêves" (a sequel to "Swan Song" patterned after John Lennon's "God")
is relatively easy to find, but there is a trick to finding my final❓ poem, parenthetically
titled "Bozo's Last Gasp".🤡 See my Blog for additional information.◀
(🧙: Bozo's final poem isn't that special. Not nearly as good as my imitation of John.
It is the quest, and what can be learned along the way, that matters.)

Look for clues at the end of "The Enigma Poems" 🧩, "Things I've Written - Part 4",
"The Collector", and in my YouTube Community... ⬅
(My story from AuthorsDen has sort of spilled over into my YouTube Channel.
It's in the Text and Comments of My Videos, and in my YouTube Community.)

YouTube has renamed their "Community" tab to "Posts".
The end of my story is there. (Roger won.)

that was quite enticing, as if we are having a conversation and made me feel accompanied while watching the sun drift on the waves of the ocean. thank you for writing this piece.

Nicely introspective. Especially with the added notes. But I can see there is a kind of copout at the end where you seem to have a love connection with one individual that steers you from your lonely course like mine does. That's okay, if we open the door to it, love will come in.

I watched the video and saw my favorite "weeds" that are so beneficial to birds and insects that we can't even imagine how needed they are when we indiscriminately kill them with passion for our misdirected thinking about their harm to our sacred crop yields for profit by factory farms.

Unfortunately, the music was a dirge that left me wanting to turn the damn video off! It may be my hearing loss but I think it's just a bad choice of background music for relaxing.
