Essential Reading: Cuts Through Biblical Confusion
Mimi Emmanuel has capped her series with a Biblical tour-de-force which captures what I believe is the core truth of the scriptures.

I participated in church as a child and youth. As an adult I became disillusioned with Christianity. The Bible sent mixed messages in my view. And Christians picked out whatever interpretation supported their less divine inclinations. The whole business seemed like a fraud to me. It still does for the most part. Nevertheless, I had a great insight, a revelation, twelve years ago. It led me into a science-based philosophical investigation. And that resulted in an amazing discovery about what happens after we die. I lectured on my theory three hours each semester for three years at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. My findings were consistent with the core messages in almost every spiritual tradition. I found that our actions in this life do actually have eternal consequences.

Jesus' core message is absolutely consistent with, and illuminating toward, the most life fulfilling path through the world. It reflects ultimate, fundamental truths about the very nature of reality.
