I became a member of Author's Den back in the Stone Age (2003), but my Den lay dormant, because I worked on my website. And on November 3, 2006, I became a paying member of Authors Den.
As a woodcarver for many years (25), I'm out of the art and craft world, and not out of the writing world, so I have no background in writing whatsoever. In college, I did not major in English, communications, or journalism. A few years ago, I was invited to join the Southwest Writers Workshop, but the then president of the organization, Eileen Stanton. She has sold over 5,000 of her articles, to many of the top newspapers and magazines in this country. With over 600 members nationwide, SWW has some of the most talented and accomplished writers anywhere. Needless to say, I was flattered with the invitation, and that was the beginning in my interest in writing.
Later, and in my 40's I completed three writing courses to try to improve my writing skills: the Writer's Digest course; the National Writers Club course; and a creative writing course at the University of New Mexico. One of the best things I'v ever done for myself, and I feel like I'm destined to become one of the greatest writers the world has ever known! (yeah, right...and your nose is growing, Jer!) Completing the writing courses, gave me the confidence to build my website, which is the pride and joy, and to write my articles and book, etc.
For as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed making people laugh, whether it be by telling a joke; writing an anecdote, and by buiding my website. Writing, wood carving and photography are not my passions...HUMOR is my passion! Since the age of eleven, my calling has been to make people happy...and I do that with my humor, and I am grateful for the gift!
