This is what happens during a snowstorm

As the gray clouds convene and become prominent in the skyline, one can sense that snow is on the way.  The air changes from a brisk breeze to a biting cold, like an Alaskan night.  The sky's colors start to change from azure to gray.  The winds begin to whistle sweet music, making the leaves on the trees sway back and forth with sympathetic vibrations; eventually, the leaves fall off.  One can see their breath emanating from their mouth into the wintry air.  The air gets so cold that lakes freeze, allowing people to enjoy sports such as skating and hockey.

Suddenly, little flurries start to form and descend from the atmosphere; in due time, they stick to the ground and form ice spots.  One may not notice the flakes falling at first, but as the number of flakes increases, so does the opportunity in seeing the flakes.  A family of squirrels scurry to get all the nuts they can before they are trapped in their home without food.  As the day goes on, the snowflakes get bigger and bigger and start to fall more rapidly; they look like the snow that falls in a snow globe.  The flakes accumulate and start to cover everything in their paths- trees, grass, streets, and nearby cars.

In a nearby garden, an unsuspecting rose, caught in a late season bloom, receives a gentle invasion of snowflakes, which make the petals bounce like a diving board.  Eventually, the enormous weight of the snowflakes takes its toll on the fragile petals; the petals slowly detach themselves from the rose's stems and descend toward the ground, swinging back and forth on their way down to their pitiful demise.  Later during the day, the winds increase, which cause some snowflakes to rise from their present position on a spot of grass to a sewer opening in the street.

Children seeing snow for the first time run from their houses to see spectacle.  Little boys make snow fortresses and have snowball fights, while little girls lay on the ground and make snow angels.  The most envied event that could happen to a child is having a snowflake land on your nose.  The snow gives the child a "tingly" feeling that is pleasant to feel.  Parents, seeing the snow often regress to their childhood, throwing snowballs and just having fun.

When the snow ceases to fall, the sun pushes away the clouds to reveal its lost brilliance, like an obnoxious actor nudging other actors away to get attention.  The wind dies down from a thunderous howl to an unsuspecting whisper.  As the sun reveals itself, the air is warmed again to a tropical state.  The snow that is left on the ground begins to dissipate, starting at the center and spreading to the outlying areas.  Birds start to sing again plants are reborn and animals come out of their homes to resume their normal life, awaiting the next snowstorm.
