Ever had the "no matter what attitude" only to be sabataged repeatedly by placing yourself in an environment which is not condusive to achieving your goals?
Will power will only get you so far, at some point you must control the environment more.
When I discovered that I needed to diet. I thought will power alone would enough to reach my goal. I have learned that controlling the environment is at least as important. So this was the game I played. While my wife continued to buy lots of candies, deserts, and snacks I continued to tell myself that's okay because I am going to be successful, "No Matter What".
When I wasn't successful, I felt weakened because I failed. I should be able to resist the urge, right? Well, now I know that continually testing your resistance by trying to stand up to evil, for instance, in hell is very unrealistic.
While we have some control over our will and I still believe in the "No matter what" philosophy, "No matter what" should include making our environment as conducive to our goals as possible. If you want to lose weight get rid of unhealthy foods. If you want to be a professional basketball player don't go to football camp.
Control your environment set your will power up for success and it will get stronger. Will you then reach your goals or is there some other factor I have left out?
