... from the canyons of my mind... and from recent events.
A change of Pace - or should I say a change of Command?
It was said thousands of years ago that "the Lord disciplines those whom He loves." That reminder was repeated many times, in many different ways.
Here's one of those quotes repeated in the Christian New Testament:
"In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves." " [From the book "Hebrews" - chapter 12]
Whatever relationship I and "the Lord" have, I've felt very loved lately!
Of course it wasn't "the Lord" who was - is - disciplining me through spiritual, mental and even physical tests and trials. I made a choice years ago to walk an uncommon path. As of some days ago, all in the process of advancement on this chosen path, I was given a change of command (so to speak). My wise and kind Teachers gave me three Masters, warriors of the spirit-mind, to take care of seeing me through this next level of understanding and experience, leaving me in their capable hands.
They remain nameless entities though I suspect Phaelon to be one of them - in disguise naturally. They began their task by "mocking" my sense of accomplishment through this parable.
A man thought himself very tall because he towered by a full head over the tallest of the people among whom he lived. The people marveled at his height and were deferential to him because of it. Then one day, as the man was walking tall and proud getting further in touch with his tallness, he was suddenly surrounded by three other men who towered by as much as a yard (meter) over him. These "Masters" knew his thoughts and asked: "So, what do you think of your height now? Isn't it all relative? If you compare yourself to those who are shorter than you then yes, you are tall, but not wise. What are you to us? Puny."
More rhetorical questions followed: "What is life?" "How does it all work?" "Where does it all originate, where is its source?" Foolish questions, but we will tell you this much. To our knowledge, no one knows what the source of life is. In eons of analysis we have determined that life is of the feminine principle. It is self-sacrificing. It is giving. It is empathic and compassionate. In these you will recognize your own suspicions and desires to emulate this. We are charged with the task of demonstrating to you how you may achieve these goals and this we shall do. We will test you and observe your performance. You have asked to become an avatar - a bold request, even bolder quest - and we shall determine by your state of mind through our tests how serious you really are.
Now then, prepare your spirit-mind-body ISSA being thus: remain in a constant state of thankfulness to life but do not seek to understand her. She is Mystery; the Phoenix.
These you will make your bread and butter: detachment; servanthood; acceptance; compassion.
This you will not do: condemn. Discern, yes. Judge? Indeed. But never condemn. Those who condemn cannot partake of life's purpose.
You will not allow yourself the luxury of anger. Anger tears through your auric fields and drains your spiritual resources. Only fools who depend upon others use anger, in conjunction with hate, fear and even despair, to assert themselves. Are you a fool?
You will force yourself to live in humility. This will be your hardest task and harshest experience. You will fail time and again. Unlike your Teachers we will not help you. We will observe and most certainly we will record your failures. Know therefore that to fail in humility is to fail at all the rest. Hint: You reap what you sow. If you sow compassion without stint, it will come to your help unbidden. Compassion is lubricated by humility.
Many "events" followed this introduction. Events that proved I have many miles to go before I sleep. And "Blessed Sleep" is what I want about now...
Sharing this with you in case you too are so embarked and like me, may feel utterly overwhelmed and quite confused by it all. But you learn to sail by sailing and only through the storms you survive do you come to know how good you really are.
It is the season of storms.
