Abram took Sarai his wife, .............. & all the sustance that they had gathered ............. & they went forth to go into the land of Canaan And the Cananite was then in the land Back to Genesis 25:19-34 Verse 21 -- And Issac .... intreated ... the LORD for his wife, because she was barren, and the LORD was intreated of him, & Rebekah his wife conceived. Verses 22, 23 And the children struggled together within her; & she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. Key Verse -- And the LORD said unto her, To nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; & the one people shall be stronger than the other people; & the elder shall serve the younger. (Genesis 25:23) WORKS of God -- The Purposes of God -- National Election While Rebekah was carrying her babies -- expecting with the babies they were at battle with each other before they were born. Can you imagine how she felt -- was she in pain -- or was she fearful? She prayed to God and HE answered her and told she was carrying ....... Two nations......... Verse 24 -- When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins .... The Family -- Parents & Children -- Twins Easu(Edom-verse 30) -- born first Jacob(Israel) -- born last Genesis 28:6-9 Esau married Ishmael daughter..... Ishmael was Abraham's son. Back to Genesis 25:19-34 Verses 25, 26 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; & they called his name Esau. And after that his brother out, & his hand took hold on Esau's heel; & his name was called Jacob: The Family -- Children -- Twins Verse 27 -- And the boys grew: & Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; & Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents External Nature -- Man & The Animal Creation -- Hunting for Food (Genesis 27:1-5 --- Issac called his oldest son, Esau & told him to go prepare him some vension/stew so he could bless him & Genesis 27:6-23 ---- Rebekah overheard & told Jacob what to do so he would receive the blessing from his daddy) Back to Genesis 25:19-34 Verse 28 -- And Issac loved Esau ...... but Rebekah loved Jacob. The Family -- Family Affection -- Parents & Children -- Favorite Children Having favorites - special picks can also bring problems when children can see this. Verse 29 -- Jacob sod pottage: & Esau came from the field, & he was faint: The Outward Man -- The Sustenance of the Body -- Cooking Verse 30 -- Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, ..... for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom The Outward Man -- The Appetites Verses 31, 32, 33, 34 Jacob said, sell me this day the birthright. Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: & what profit shall this birthright do to me? Jacob said, Swear to me this day; & he sware unto him: & he said his birthright unto Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread & pottage of lentils; & he did eat & drink, & rose up, & went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. Civil & Social Life -- Business Affairs -- Inheritance -- Birthright Question -- Food for Thought -- What Will Your Price Be? Now Sometime some things come with Responsibility as well as Privileges. Are you ready for the responsibility? Don't be too quick to be judgemental -- What would you have done if you would have been Jacob and or Issac? Two ways to look at this with the human eye -- Jacob could have freely given his brother, Esau some vension/pottage/stew ...... Esau could have waited and rested and prepared his own vension/pottage/stew and or he should have been looking down the road instead of looking at the moment ......... Scripture reference taken from ---- KJV, Topical Reference Bible, Crusade Bible Publishers, Inc., Mt. Juliet, TN, .......... KJV, Precious Promise Bible, International Series, The John C. Winston Co.
