My job

So it is one of those days where I have spent five hours pouring over a manuscript, scouring it for anything that might cause an editor to stop and get busy with his/or red pen. You know those things like dangling participles and subject-verb agreement. I started to think "is this really what I want to do?". I knew it was time to take a break, even though my deadline is only a few days away.

I just want to get back to the fun part. The storyteller. But instead today I get to scour a manuscript. Looking around my office, I find it hard to believe that I had pulled out so many reference books, some stacks higher than my chair. Where did my serene and peaceful aura go? Perhaps it is hidden underneath Barron's Essentials of English.

Feeling discouraged, tired of reading the same story yet again to be sure before I put the cd and hard copy in the mail that everything is perfect. I want something new and exciting to write about. That's why I started writing, to create dramatic scenes and fall in love with one of my characters. Not to read a story analytically. Sighing, thinking perhaps a walk would help.

Saving the edits three times just in case there is a power failure to make sure nothing would be lost (lives in Florida after all, Lightning Capital of the Northern Hemisphere), then heads out side for a relaxing stroll down to the local post office to collect my mail.
