We've all done it, made lists of things we will do or stop doing each new year, and more often than not, we don't follow through.

Why is the the norm?

It's because it's almost impossible to change a behaviors without changing the belief behind the behaviors.

Why don't resolutions work?

We've all done it, made lists of things we will do or stop doing each New Year, and more often than not, we don't follow through.

Why is this the norm for just about everyone?

It's because it's almost impossible to change a behavior without changing the belief behind the behavior

Most behaviors are habits. We don’t consciously think about them, we just react over and over again in the same way to all experiences that are similar.

Habits are like beliefs; they are thoughts/actions done over and over again until we no longer consciously think about it. We just do or think that way. This is what makes it so hard to change our behaviors quickly. We are programmed to think / react / the same way to all experiences that are similar.

Behind each habit are beliefs that are the energy to the action.

For example, people who promise to stop over eating and lose weight each year seldom do due to not changing the inner beliefs, the core, and the reason why they over eat.

If over eating is the symptom of feeling unworthy, unsafe, unloved, then without dealing with and treating/healing the reason why overeating takes place, it's unlikely that it will change.

The key to changing outer manifestation is to change the inner belief / energy that is the energy force of your life.

As a healer I realize the importance of understanding the Why of beliefs. Beliefs are the foundation and often the very walls of your life that keep you caught in a loop of same over and over again.

In order to change, something must change.

A good place to start with changing behaviors is to make a list of what you think about a certain behaviors or experience in your life.

Using the weight example from above you could write.

Food is
I am
Food makes me
I eat when
I eat because
When I eat
My mother told me food was
My mother told me I was

As you continue to go through this process you will uncover the reasons behind the overeating and then you can shift your beliefs about this subject.

If you discover that your eating is due to feeling unloved or unworthy, you can begin to reprogram yourself with new beliefs.
Take this one step at the time, “always reaching for the better feeling thought”. (Abraham)

Many people spend themselves into huge debt and don’t understand why they continue to do this, knowing it brings them much pain and worry.

Shopping creates feel good energy within the mind and body. While shopping you feel great, then you bottom out and feel guilty. Soon in order to feel better you shop and the cycle continues.

What is shopping a symptom of? Again go through the question and answer process and you will discover the reasons why you continue to shop even though you promise yourself to stop.

This process can be done with any habit you wish to give up. By understanding the belief, the reason behind the habit you can begin the process of shifting your self-vision to line up with your new desires.

This process works for relationships, money, love, and eating, any and all addictions.

Coming to terms with your beliefs about yourself, your life and the world leads to a place of healing and well being.

Resolve this year to explore and understand you and experience joy.

Happy New year.
