I believe, what he was talking about, was what we are doing to each other as a People! Racism; domestic violence; child/senior abuse; bigotry; put-down; road-rage; jealosy; racism; and it goes on and on, etc. President Bush, Sr. attended the funeral of Coretta King in early 2006, and again, he uttered those words!

Because I'm in the business of writing/publishing, etc., I'll keep my remarks to the writing field. I'm not the fastest horse in the race, and I can't understand where all this hate comes from! We have all this creativity in the world...writing; movies; advertising; art; craft...and how does bigotry and racism play a part? If you have a 25 year old, and puts out quality work, and then gets compensated for it.

On the other hand, you have a 55 year old, who ALSO puts out quality work...and he or she get compensated all right...with the pink slip! I have no doubt in my mind, that age discrimination played a part in my downfall, when I was trying to find work in my 50's. In an article I wrote, "Discrimination Against Older Workers (Ageism), I detail how it happened.

The old M.A.S.H. television show of the 1970's, was a hit show for about a decade or so. One day, I saw an interview with three of the writers from that show...two men and one woman. All three were in their early 50's at the time of the interview, and all three had a little salt and pepper in their hair, etc. The interview, was about discrimination against older workers in the writing field, etc.

All three of them agreed, that they didn't use the credit of being a writer of the old MASH show, because, in doing so, would date them! I've never seen anything so ridiculous in my life! All these three people "looked" like they were in their 50-55 age range, and nothing can change that! Do they really think, that by leaving out the fact, that they were writers on the old MASH show on their resumes, that would make a difference in their futures? Ten years of television writing experience...down the drain! (Get your head out of the sand!)

If you're 55 years old...you look 55 years old, and nothing can change that! Sure, you might get a face-lift and lose 400 pounds, which will make you look better...but not younger...your're still 55 years old! So, who are you fooling?

A few years ago, I read a short article about J.K. Rowling, the author of the enormously successful Harry Potter series. And instead of using her full name, she used her initials, because she wanted to conceal the fact that a woman wrote the stories, etc. How does a person do that, and why does a person HAVE to do that to conceal their gender?

Oh please forgive me...I almost forgot...we live in a hateful world! I guess she showed the world what she can do, right? The truth is going to come out, sooner or later...whether the writer is a man, a woman or a Martian!

I saw a short clip on the news recently, that showed young people auditioning for an orchestra. There was a partition between the musicians and the judges. You know what the partition was for, right? So, that the judges are not influenced by race or gender of the participants...and only by the music they heard! I realize this has to be done in a world full of hate, but this little act, is a disgrace to the music business, in my view!

I'm Hispanic, and when I first came on-line, I was a little concerned about my race, and I was thinking of using just my initials, etc. Whether true or perceived, I had visions of getting "flamed" because I am Hispanic! A scary thought, isn't it? Luckily...common sense and pride in myself prevailed, and I decided to go with my full name, and I proudly display my full name on every page, and at the very top of my Front Page on my website!

I HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THE PEOPLE OF HATE! Everybody's going to deal with the people of HATE in their own way. I choose to deal with openly. On February 18, 2008, I will be 63 years young! I'm a proud Hispanic, who believes, the "mutual-respect" are two of the most important words in the world, and all kids have to be taught this! If the people of HATE see a problem with these facts, they should NOT visit my two writing sites or my main website.

The people of HATE can just go away...you're not wanted...and just keep on truckin! Unfortunetely, we find people of hate in every profession all across the land, including the writing and publishing business!

I've always liked the saying from the late comedian, Flip Wilson...who said, "What you see...it what what you get!" And, for the bigots and people of hate in the writing and publishing business...read my lips...KISS MY GRITS!
