This is in response to everyone who wrote a review of my poem...
THANK YOU.

Yesterday was one of those "poor, poor, pitiful me" type days...you know, when you're feeling sorry for yourself. I don't have them often, but when I do, everyone knows it.

I am disabled with severe degenerative disc disease in my lower back, have osteoarthritis, and sciatic nerve pain and damage. I'm in pain 24/7 and usually manage to get through the day just fine, thank you very much. Once in a while, though, it gets the best of me. Yesterday was one of those days.

I wrote the following poem, describing my feelings:

"Disabilities"

if given a choice, do you think
most people would choose to be
disabled? to be without sight
speech hearing or be unable
to walk think reason would be a
terrible thing to comprehend.
who would choose to be
discriminated against in
the workplace? why is it so hard
for the disabled to find a
good job, one that will support
their needs and make them feel important
independent valuable?
is being disabled a curse from an
angry god or is it a blessing
from a loving God? i know that He
will not give us more than we can
bear...but it is getting harder to
cope with all of the pain and all of
the frustrations i face each
and every day...God, give me strength.

Since I put this poem on the Author's Den site, several of the authors have responded in a way that has touched me deeply. Several of them have disabilities of their own, and yet, they reached out in encouragement, despite their own problems.

I'd like to say a heartfelt "thank you" to all of these that kindly reviewed my poem. This means a lot to me. You don't know how blessed I am to have friends like you on the Author's Den website. (Even if you don't give a positive review, you took the time to read my work and respond to it. Of course, I'd much rather read positive responses, but I'll take the bad along with the good!)
