The idea of "free "enterprise and self-determination is ingrained in the American psyche to the point where the poor are blamed for their own circumstances, when people in general are beholden to corporations who act like very bad citizens as they plunder worldwide and seek the "lowest cost" way of creating market induced products that people don't really need at prices that guarantee a considerable "profit" for the moneyed individuals who are "the stockholders." Employees be damned. Toe the line or find the door… Where you came from there plenty more…
We must figure out a way to create a strong government for "all of the people" that will put a rein on freewheeling capitalism. In order to do that, we must take money out of politics and that will be very hard to do, because money seems to corrupt and control everyone.
As writers, we need to find ways to knock the SOBs off their pompous pedestals by cutting them off at the knees!

The problem is the kleptocrats who are in power have perfected the art of making the American people vote against their interests. Obscenely wealthy people exist who would never miss a few dollars going toward fighting poverty or education, but the are unwilling to part with one red cent. I guess they think that those who die with the most toys really do win.
