Yes,there remain two types of two footed beasts in the jungle today, which remain we this day I now ask?

Rodney's Painted Pen Commentary

The Garage Sale, My Heart Sold

As night has fallen upon the world around me this day, stealing the light, I am suddenly drawn to canvas once more. I ignite my words with no forethought nor prior composition of mind, I merely do but scribe the words, as they tumble down the spiral staircase of my mind this day.

I ponder indeed this day, the bleak division that stands tall about my countrymen, and wonder out loud in the quiet of my mind, just what contributes to such raw schisms existing in Goliath stature and pose among mankind. For if we discover the root of the schism, we perhaps shall stumble over peace in the process!

I guess most of history points to this attribute abounding in the heart of man, yes greed, and the lust for power and influence. Yes, mankind for long years has panted and lusted after such things, never content with his ground alone he stands upon.

The grass is always greener some say of old, and it has remained man's tolerated habit and perfected practice in time, to naturally assume all that appears greener than his own. Now to dream of creating or developing our pasture and life to become greener, is a noble and fine dream and ambition I should think, and to broaden our borders has always been the preoccupation of mankind standing in two footed status. I find no fault in pursuits such as these, yet to be contented with what one has, remains a fine quality to embrace as well.

The price, however, of such motivated greed disguised as innovative and wrapped in the package of industrious remains this, there is always a price paid! And generally a cost to others as well. For obviously to the gentile man, to grapple success and power into one's grasp by means of stampeding and climbing over the backs of others, is a price too high to consider, yet sadly I admit this day, not all agree in this.

I shall break from my beat and prose long enough to offer a good homespun example if I may. About five years ago due to a myriad of circumstances utterly beyond my control, after working diligently my entire life, I was suddenly launched into a valley of grim and bleak indeed! I lost my new pool home perched at the foot of the foothills painted in exquisite, along with most all my earthy possessions as well. I was forced to have the highly regarded and respected garage sale in order to sell all! Yes, my diamonds, jewelry, golf clubs, well you get the idea,. Many of these items were painted in sentimental value also.

Now I have said all that to say this, there remain two kinds of folk in the world, and here paints ye them! Now all the neighbors and prior friends know that I have gone belly-up financially ok? For the 'For Sale' sign parked in billboard fashion in front yard stood shouting it all and telling the tale! And I now sit steeped in bewilderment in my front yard, selling my entire life of keepsakes and most precious possessions for dimes and nickels. Now this diverse group of neighbors that came around that dark weekend, represented well these two groups of folk, I seek to make reference to and photograph in words this day

There were the neighbors that just quickly bought some bigger items they needed not and insisted on paying the full fare in order to help out he who succeeded on the day prior, but no longer today.

Then yes, there were those that would not take my quite reasonable price of $175.00 for my $600.00 dollar signature golf clubs and friends, but offered $100.00 instead. Hence our two differing types, all having the privilege to make purchases of a lifetime for next to nothing, plus help out their prior neighbor and friend. but naturally some wanted more! Yes, at the expense of hurting the already injured and failing seller of same said aforementioned goods!

Which I ask, this day are we?

Peace,
Rodney Evan Bohen

These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
