In disbelief, we saw him fall,
the bullets shot us, too.
And as he fell we heard his cries,
and our wails of doom.

I took my heart into my hands
and offered it to him, this man.
He smiled with pain, and shook his head.
Smiled, and shook his head.

I shuddered with his agony,
I shuddered with my own,
and in his tear, I saw his fear;
where now would this man go?

Yes, in his eyes I saw a tear
I mirrored with my own. I shouted,
"No! don't die, my friend,
you'll leave us all alone!"

He tried to speak, to tell us all,
that love can open minds.
Once more I cried, “Stay, my friend.”
He shook his head, again.

I shuddered with his agony,
I shuddered with my own,
and in his tear, I saw his fear;
where now would this man go?

I threw my heart upon the ground
beside his fragile fallen form,
he pressed his tear into my mouth
to soothe my future years.

I held his head, he held my eyes,
searching for the means to die,
without a sound , he said goodbye,
and let his music go…

and in his tear, I saw my fears;
where now would this man go?

I took his dreams, this man of song,
and tried to add my own;
I put his words into my heart,
and always let them flow.
