It’s Easter, but the Bunny doesn’t bring them, Tax day, yet of 1040 they never heard, It’s exploding bouquet that delivers whim, To ruby-throated nectar sipping bird —
April 15th northern Virginia they show, Every year, the same, right on time, Just as on Sept 15,th south they go, Ahead of blossoms frosted rime.
They check the flowers and play, A cold spell will make them hide, Sugar feeders make males display, Until nesting pulls females aside.
The young find sugar charms, In a light rain before dark, As mosquitoes in feeding swarms, Humming — thirty strong, on a lark.
Sugar they like, but from it will zoom, To mimosa and other flowers of summer, To add to their diets much natural bloom. Priceless jewel — the ruby-throated hummer!

I absolutely love hummingbirds, Leland! They truly are fascinating creatures.
Yes, the other creatures of nature are more adept at telling time than humans, even with our clocks and calendars. They look within themselves while we search without.
Isn't this fascinating? We don't have these particular precious jewels in this corner of the world, my dearest friend, but if we look closely, there are many treasures like this around us, everywhere. And aren't they the ones that make us truly richer?
