Struggling with a sense of paralysis Of waiting for the other shoe to drop A feeling immune to analysis One which no antidepressant can stop This new disease this sword of Damocles This unknown terror destroying my days I fear that it will be like this always Until it happens then happens again I live in anticipation of pain
I know I am not supposed to show it But it is coming soon and I know it All I wanted to be was a poet At least I did my best and got as good In such time as I had here as I could But grieve for those younger with their hunger For their new lives for their husbands and wives And all the children who never will be And what we mistook for eternity
We thought it would last forever but It never does Always remember no matter what The way it was
Lisa and the others have said so much that I would feel almost a fool to think I can top that. So I will simply honor and echo their thoughts and wish you love and peace and all good things, Stevie. Regis
Rebuilding in our minds as they did in REality too! Strong write Steve.. but, Hope & Miracles begets all the terror we were subjected too *( or shall I say the unsurvived & loved) With Hope and a Miracle- Our Future will be the way, we want it to be-- In Peace 4 all! WE can't give up, even in our Mindsss! We gained sTrength and knowledge of the Wrong-done. You-WE need you to keep writing STeve- you make us think- as Poetry does Inspirationally-Thank you-WArmly,Sheee
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh...a powerful, shattering write. The last sentance sums it up brilliantly and succinctly.
Always remember no matter what/
The way it was.
Thank you for remembering--so many are choosing to forget the events of that awful day.

Hell, I have to agree with you on this. I am afraid that our way of life took an irreversible bad turn on 9-11. Of course 9-11 was only the ultimate in atrocities perpetrated on us. It has been slolwy creeping terror foor many years. We are no longer immune and I believe that most of the world secretly is gleeful that we are getting our comuppance, as some would say. I don't say that, but some do. Yes, we thought it would last forever our global prestige.
I agree with Lisa on this one, the poem is great in style, imagery and verse but we cannot and have already lost if we live everyday in what was, the future is ahead and only we can make a differnce old friend. I read somewhere that after the bomb was dropped during ww II that people thought that it was the end of the world as they had known it and maybe it was but...
the world regrouped and gave you and me and the rest of out generation the world as we knew it which as kids didn't seem all that bad. sorry for ramblin but this one made me think as it was intended to no doubt.
We can't go back, and we can't change what was..but we can move forward. We can be vigilant, in picking up the pieces, and putting them back into their respective places. 9/11 was a tragic and senseless day; It is a day that will replay in our minds and hearts for the rest of our lives..or..until it happens again, and then that day will over-shadow the other. But living each day with the idea of gloom and doom, is not what being free is about. There has been too many lives lost to grant you Freedom, for you not to live life to the fullest.
Will it happen again? I don't know the answer to that, but I know they will make plans to try, and probably give it their best shot, but hopefully the plans will be foiled, and the shadows of terrorism and death, will have to wait for another time.
Steven, live your life as though you have wings, and soar above the pain. Tell those you love, you love them often, and live everyday as though it were your last. And write..because you are a Poet.
