Sometimes I feel like my poems are a string of cheery Hallmark-cards patched together or an excerpt from a selfhelp-book. Having said that I want to share my success story, because if it can help just one person out there to feel better I will be the happiest person alive

Poem Artwork

My heart burning bright

Even in sorrows sight

I do not regret my darkest days

they strengthened me in so many ways

Memories do surface from time to time

but fear not for me, it does not crush my mind
These days my memories serve as inspiration
like a writing poetry-incantation

Though be it a multitude of past pains

I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the strength it made me gain

And I know that you also will find this true

once you see your darkness through

We are all weak and frailed,

capable to slide off track, to derail

If you try to push all sorrow away

without dealing with it, it will stay

forever with you, eating you whole

from deep inside your very soul

The bravest thing you can do

Is to face your pain, because that will heal you

Inside this poem I find treasures, two of which are: “I do not regret my darkest days/they strengthen me in so many ways” . . and “We are all weak and frailed,” — that one rings with sterling truth. Thank you ~~ djl

I know from experience that speaking out about our troubles, worries, angers and hurts can be very theuruputic (spelling) but a lot of people find it hard to pour their soul out in voice. That is where I have found writing, and especially poetry, a healthy alternative. Your words echo with honesty and truth...keep on writing.

Life-affirming traditional poetry, Elizabeth

I always enjoy the positive as opposed to the negative which seems to be all around us these days.

P.S. I have a Hallmark poetry collection book which is full of great poets of the past and the relative present.

You resonated with me. In my darkest hour, I realized that with my life changed, I would have to remake it with what I had left. That attitude has served me well, like it appears it has you.

Not one of your best poems, but certainly one that you are grateful for.

Is that a ghost in your photograph, or just you, taking it? ;-)

The past is to be learned from, not lived in. I relate to the personal resolve in this. r
