It seems like yesterday, but it was a long time ago,

Life was carefree, or at least I thought so.

My youth was short lived, just like a whirlwind,

Where did the years go, I'd like to try it again.

Why did I feel old, when I was still so young,

My body was tired now; my song had been sung.

I lost my way somehow and took a wrong turn,

Consequences plaque me; it stings, it burns.

My heart weeps more tears than my eyes ever could,

My mind goes wandering back, to a place it never should.

Oh why can't I rest from this weariness inside,

My spirit is burdened and I just want to hide.

Can't I go back and wipe the slate clean?

Afterall, I not a bad person, not hateful or mean.

 Oh Sweet Youth, I didn't realize my actions would haunt me so,

Life was carefree then, but that was long ago.
