The Unfinished
By Ch'erie de Perrot
In this world of vanity ridden egomania amid hedonistic ideals,
she walks boldly in the face of adversity alone with edenic needs.
Ne'er proclaiming perfection, au contraire but with a desire
to be held in esteem lasting and real, not surreal.
If she could have but a moment in space and time
to be the one and only, it would be worth a thousand years!
Lain waste by the hapless vanity of infidelity by a mindless man
who sought to cloak slouching shoulders with an oxens yoke
Snatching integrity, loyalty and years not for the wasting
till all that's left is a shell of a once former youthful lass
Royalties spent on unerring diligence to self, with the truth
hidden neath a pile of unwritten heartlines smudged in raw ink
Words that will ne'er be completed nor spoken, as the writer
places her quill in an unrecognized box, placing the paper...
of dreams neatly next to it, marking with a still serenity,
The Unfinished!
