I walk outside my door
And look upon the tree
Dressed in winter’s barrenness
Plain for all to see
Yet, I see only hope
In the leafless branches there
For in a few short weeks
New leaves will the tree bear
Then it will grace my front yard
With beauty beyond compare
For with its green foliage
It will be so fair
And it will shout of wonder
And God’s bounty and His grace
And all who look upon it
Will see him in this place
For it is through his power
The tree restoration will bloom
And be resurrected from winter
Naked gloom
And I will look upon it
And in it will I see
The promise that my God made
Especially to me
That if I called upon Him
And followed Him in life
I would escape eternal death
When I leave this world of strife
I will also be resurrected
And death will have no hold on me
And go to live forever
With Him for blessed eternity
