I’ve often heard that life is the shits

Or

The shit is about to hit the fan, or did

Or

Don’t give me any shit!

Or

I don’t give a shit!

Or

What is this shit?

Or

This tastes like shit!

Or

Shit happens!

The list is endless.

Such a remarkably interchangeable four letter word used in phrases to describe a pseudo-tangible emotional experience sadly compared with the actual biological function and fortunately, rarely, literally accurate.

I know of only one other four letter word that even comes close to its versatility to describe a pseudo-tangible emotional experience sadly compared with the actual biological purpose and unfortunately, rarely, spiritually accurate.

The word is love.

You make me remember that Monty Python song about "Always look at the bright side of life" when they sung "...life's a piece of shit when you look at it..." Patrick you are becoming a fine philosopher!

PS. apropos outhouses...

Maw is outside the house hanging up the laundry, when she hears Jethro in the kitchen. Maw walks in and says, "Jethro, get out there and fix that there outhouse."
He says, "All right, Maw."
He walks out to the outhouse, looks at it, and says, "Maw, there ain't nothin' wrong with this here outhouse!"
Maw says, "Yes there is son. Put your head down in the hole."
He puts his head down in the hole and he says, "Maw, there ain't nothin' wrong with this here outhouse!"
He goes to lift up his head and he says, "Oww! OWW! Maw! MAW, my beard's stuck!"
She says, "Aggravatin', ain't it?"

Patrick your analogy with the love word, is shitty, but true.;-)I always hated the sh-t word, but it really gets a lot of useage,as do all words that tend to be dirty...
