A little off my beaten path but what the heck.

Poem Artwork

Maybe God uses two way mirrors

To observe us

Perhaps instead of being made in his image

We are simply a reflection of our own

The mirror serving to reassure us

Of that which we cannot know

For in our own reality

Our lives are on full display

Except for that which we attempt to obscure

From the others

Through our chosen angles of reflection

Directing the focus away from

Our stumbles within our own unique

Shadowbox kabuki dance

That we perform each day

With the orchestral assistance of our conscience

Living without the benefit

Of special knowledge

Or premonition of a future

That precedes the linchpin moment in time

When our reflection is quietly absorbed

By the opaque dark peaceful nexus

Of a two way mirror

Welcoming us home for our final tango

Patrick, Very deep and insightful poetry! Kinda like that movie with Jim Carey when the world watches him everyday on television! What if Heaven watched us all day and night!! So much to think about! Take care, ~Chessly

I very much like this meditation and the premise you set up here - and the shadow dance and puppetry are highly appropriate. I'm not sure whether, in fact, we hide in this way from others or from our true selves - if we know who they are?! Perhaps we are observing ourselves to find out... Neat work and more of this divergence would be most welcome! xx

This reminds me of the passage toward the end of I Corinthians 13 where it says that as of now we only see "through a glass, darkly,"

Perhaps instead of being made in God's image,
We are simply a reflection of our own

Now that's quite profound, and the way things are going these days, quite believable.
