A tale of odd imaginations or what?

Poem Artwork

I awoke

I am sure

though that could be a lying truth,

you see what has passed

has not yet been.

I was there

at the door

ready to leave

yet somewhere inside

I knew this

I had already seen.

So annoyed with myself

deeply inside

for delaying and fighting

the urge to leave,

but those minutes were precious

for I saw what I knew

 someone like me

lying by the road.

The more I looked

the more it started to fade

though voices I did hear

said he was dead.

Knocked down by a trailer

that did not stop,

So disturbed was I

that I could not halt.

I carried on

to where I  was heading

then felt my wrist

ny watch was missing,

so was my pass for where I worked,

I know I had them

this was so absurd.

Next day a police officer

was at my door

asking me questions

about my work.

When I told him

he showed me my pass

it was blood stained

I was nervous to ask.

He said it had been found

at the crossroads

along with a wristwatch

so badly smashed,

'Sir are these yours?'

he asked.

He took a statement

and the matter was closed

told me to be

more careful

with things I own.

Thats why I say

I am not sure

is this a lying truth

or was I right to delay

that day at my door.
