Do your hear it
listen
a baby cries,
then all of a sudden
the crying
fades.
Then you see
a mother with her baby
both with smiles,
content
the baby
no longer cries.
That is all it took
to reassure a child
that everything was fine,
yet harsh words purvey
in family life
as pressures multiply.
Too many pressures
economic
depressing,
children pressured
with
higher education.
Do you hear it
listen
an adult cries,
spirit broken
even though
they tried.
A failure
they feel
towards their child,
not able to give them
a normal
child's life.
This is our world
do you hear it
in the news,
do you see
refugee's
crying with their child,
unable to live
a normal
life....
Yes, there is much suffering both inside and outside family these days. But I would contend that the vast majority of families are doing quite well… Just not in the spotlight of the evening news.
Without a balanced view of the world, we are doomed to our own paranoia. Perhaps it is true that poets seem to have more paranoia than those not so expressive.
