Going for something new here. This first stab is in the new moon of the spring equinox...visceral interpretation at best thus far - hoping for something more defined / refined in the future.

Art by Jake Baddeley

Poem Artwork

~dining with paisley garnishes~

black and white tiles
resonate under her toes
some.days there are shrill echoes

he's stepping in hot water
explanatives detail rites.

languid surreality
trapezoid measurements, cube
squared retro - condescends.

architecture - stark space
he traveled the open fields.

a secret, shhh....don't ask
can she tell what channel is
playing on the radio today?

No. Rather, she picks up
a volume on Voltaire and reads.

Now the flim-flam gypsy
has tarot written all over her deck
mystic arts render and she is

well served. woven in synapses
conquered territories - he has

never tread. A knowledge reposit
her respite. You do not warn
cockles preening their bush.

minor evolutions the most tumultuous.
And, Voltaire conferred with her.

In this day and age, Donna, it is best to turn off the radio or television and read or write to save our own sanity. The news is too depressing and radio playlists are determined by talking corporate heads who may be in an office that is miles, if not states, from the stations their dictating. I think, a lot of times, our memories of how things once were and our abilities to sit, and recall those times, help us to stay sane.

Thanks for sharing this poem. I enjoyed it very much,
Jill

I like this Donna, it reminds me of myself, I prefer to read or write over watching inane TV shows or listening to so called experts who have radio talk shows. Great images and lots of room for the reader's imagination to come into play. Well done.
