Sometimes we take things for granted. We live from day to day, never taking the time to 'revel' in the 'miracle' of another day of life. I recall that I was blind like this for years, however, now...I see. I have come to the realization that one need only turn to whatever is their personal designated media source to 'appreciate' the fact they are still breathing. And, from the Word of God, we learn it is only by 'His' will that this is so. If we consider the list of tragic occurrences that happen daily it should cause us to stop and think. I know it's not a pretty picture that I am painting but the point is this; we are in the land of the living at this very moment only because Almighty God has deemed that we should be. We do not know when our last day will be...we are in His hands. He has mandated that we should be alive this day and for this we should be grateful never taking our living in 'stride', but taking a moment to reflect. It is not too much to ask...after all...we gingerly thank people who hold the door open for us, we thank the cashier at the check-out line, we thank our co-workers and others for numerous kindnesses extended to us throughout our day. Let's look at the facts; we more than likely went out this day and returned safely, God did it. Our children and significant others went out also and came back safely, God did it. We took that great vacation, drove up and down the highway or flew or sailed and we made it back safely, God did it.
Our gratitude doesn't have to be a big display because this is not about us gaining 'brownie' points, it's just about taking the time to have a small, personal conversation with our Maker, who has kept us another day. Thank you, Lord...is all it takes.
