When our prayers become a ritual
it has lost its purpose, indeed
when we feel we must pray on a schedule
we’ve strayed from faith seed
The world’s enemy uses the tool of…time
to knit a large…cloak of guilt
which covers those whose ‘clock’ is designed
to tell them when...to turn…with prayerful lilt
Now please don’t misunderstand this intent
it’s not wrong to pray same time each day
but if the hour comes and goes…please do not lament
for God’s Love remains, He’s faithful that way
See, the Spirit of Jesus is not contained…
nor is it a subjected or predictable thing
it hovers over us with a ‘free’ reign
touching where it deems, like echoes of a bird’s sing
You cannot miss ‘Him’ for, all thru the day, He’s thine!
so, if the hour slips by when you usually seek the Son
know, it’s alright, He’s not a ‘task master’…after a kind
but a Loving Friend, who whenever you call…He’ll come!
We’re not bound by sky color, moons or starlight shower
there’s no truth in acquired ‘superstitions’ found there
tis God’s Mercy and Grace that covers us hour after hour
and ‘He’ knows our hearts…whether false or sincere
Opportunities to talk with our Creator…is endless…
‘praying without ceasing’ means…we’re never done!
a missed hour of prayer is no reason to stress
for we must seek Him all through the day, as this race is run
When our talks with ‘Him’ are approached like…meted rations
‘rites’ prevail, with the Cross of Calvary…hardly visual
and lost…is the sweetness of ‘His’ impromptu conversations…
as ticking minutes control, and our… prayers…become a ritual
