Twelve years ago…I met her
with me tattered and torn from a search
And she extended to me…a roof
under which I still perch
The warmth of her care was always felt
even on my eight floor
Her qualification and credentials?
a Genuine Love…that soared
As administrator she had respect for all
though we didn’t always see eye to eye
Yet, in her accomplished leadership role
each was aware…she was by their side
Being a homebody…I didn’t see her often
but I felt a security…knowing…she was there
Her…quiet authority…within the towers
gave me a cloak of well-being beyond compare
When I asked, she gave me permission
to distribute Christian literature
Her warmth and kind understanding
painted, for me…an indelible picture
Her faith was strong…one could tell
seen especially, when her health fell
And God, who resided within her heart
was evident in the strength He did impart
Even in this short while, she's already missed
none can ever fill shoes or take her place
But my comfort and contentment is…
one day, again…I will see her face
On that great morning of celebration…
when we gather on high…to feast and sup
There…around the Throne of Sweet Jesus
I’ll hug and greet…Gladys Clay Butts
