God’s Peace, which surpasses all understanding…heals! This is what the souls of all humanity yearn for. All the money in the world cannot purchase it! God’s Peace is what dissenting nations pine…yet, cannot find…not even in a thousand brutal wars! Pressing-on, amen.

Poem Artwork

You flow over us…

untwining…rigid nerves…

relaxing tightened muscles.

Stiffened ligaments…

submit to Your prodding

our minds…are washed

our concerns and angsts…

are significantly dashed…

by Your…Peace.

In the midst of discord…

You are that element…spilling…

agreeable compromise.

We would never be able to sleep, no…

not even close our fitful eyes…

without the miraculous imparting…

of You, Dear God…

Flowing over us

ISAIAH 66:12-13, JOHN 14:27, PHILIP 4:7

If religion is an opiate, you can certainly soothe all of the uncertainty and unwelcome pain that life normally throws at us by focusing on religious ritual like praying.

I normally sleep well except when I have an itch I can't scratch or an internal feeling that is causing my mind/body to react in an unfortunate way keeping me awake. The simple act of just turning to the other side (not turning the other cheek) can cause the irritation to go away.

Indeed, JMS Bell... Peace is not just the absence of conflict, but a deep sense of assurance and quietness that comes from our relationship with the Most High God. "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3. Thank God for that "flowing over us". A heartening message. Thank you for sharing it. Warm regards. rlc

Your words move with the same gentleness they describe—peace not as an idea but as something living, something that loosens what life has tightened. The way you show God’s presence flowing through the body and settling the mind feels deeply true. In a world so full of noise and striving, this poem reminds us that real peace is never earned or forced; it is given, quietly and miraculously. A beautiful, healing piece.
