Searching For You
On a hot and humid summer day,
Before the wet monsoon,
They get down on their hands and knees
Carefully pushing aside every inch of dirt,
Delicately overturning every pebble
Searching for you.
Along side a river they pause and reflect
Upon a soldier they will never forget.
Beads of sweat roll down their brow
The extreme heat taking its toll.
They’ve never questioned why they continue
Searching for you.
Another hard working day nears its end
The sun begins to set across a vast ocean
I get down on my knees in prayer
Hearts aching as one
To never forget and never stop
Searching for you.
