My Dearest Santa

Poem Artwork
My dearest Santa, I seek you today,
this morning of light profound,
because my spirit soars for a change,
tears of love, of soul-touched fears
which wrack my mind
all through the year,
are running down my face;
but in a different way.

I sense you smile, you know me well,
you’ve seen me grow and cower. Cover
my head, look through eyes of dread,
refuse any strength
to be empowered.

You know responsibility is not innate in me,
I’d rather dream my life away
than live it’s hard-won pride,
selfish to the end, I still defend
the right to be self-applied.

Today, dearest Santa,
in the eyes of my child
the spirit of humanity
pierced my heart, I am not the same,
I am the same, we are she;
my daughter’s beauty shines.

She wrote you this.

“My Dearest Santa,
how are the reindeer? My stuffed
animals wunt something for X-mas.
Allie wants a banket and Alex wants
Some toys! and I want to thank you
for spending your time doing
All those trips and all I want
for Christmas is for you
to come home save. :)

Love
Mariah Moen

P.S. I have been good
P.S.S. Say hi to frostie”

Santa dearest, thank you,
for the tears in my eyes.
