Shallow Me Not

Reflected in this me-made lake, clearer,
my desperation to escape; release,
I could reach it all if I could mirror
the reflection mirrored in my lake. Please
shallow not my wayward thoughts, shadow not,
though shallows seen are in my dreams – don’t loose
the thoughts that self-defeat when depths are sought
and shallows rise to cover mirror's dues.
Reflections shadowed in my mirror, lake
of tears and drowning fears of shallow years
reflecting leaves of tree above can make
or break the mirrored self, which once was dear.
Shallows now reflect the fight, human strife
is mirrored in reflections of my life.
