For my brother!

Poem Artwork

It’s your saint,
But my beast,
It’s my hunger,
But your feast,

It’s your comfort,
But my shack,
I prefer distance,
While you want her back.

To you a steady shoulder,
To me a cold cheek,
You see strength,
I see weak.

To you an angel,
To me it’s callow,
You found love,
And I found shallow.

To me a shade,
To you a home,
Your place of light.
My nightmare zone.

My reality,
Is not yours,
And then again,
Yours too, not mine, of course.

How differently one's view of things can be. How well you express this here, Cathrine. Thank you. Love and peace to you. Regis

A fascinating poem - especially to me, since my sister and I have never ever seen things the same way since we were tiny tykes.

It is always interesting to me, how two people can look at the same thing and see something completely different. When it involves a sibling, tolerance and acceptance are the best avenues to follow.
Take care,
Sherry

Don't know about siblings since I haven't any to compare with. At least you have that.

Flashing back and forth so vividly it almost makes the reader ache wanting to find a way to bridge the gap that seems so wide yet siblings are still so close.

Sounds like a brilliant expose of familial love and affection to me! Where would we all be without the counterbalance of the "advice we can't possibly take and don't want to hear - but which is in our best interest and always (damn it!) so right"?! Sibling love is surely something else and is just such a curious mix of (dare we say it?!) protection and self-sacrifice. I truly enjoyed this little-covered subject in this crisp and lucid write - thank you. Kate
