The Paphian goddess sheds as many tears as Adonis pours forth blood: and these all on the ground becomes flowers; the blood begets a rose and the tears the anemone.
Yet we walk through the halls of our hidden past alone and ashamed. Reflective memories gather at the well of good intentions like a spirited relief from those shadows falling in the cracks of the Parthenon.
Another rose blooming from the conquest of suffering young and old fools alive in the merriment of the ripening grapes upon the vine, as true now as it was in Adonis time.
I lay upon a bed of leaves, tossing thoughts in my mind. I know now that subjective and objective impressions of our lives are oftentimes weighed on the scales of predisposition; it seems humanity’s judgments are as murky as pennies in a glass of wine, where our desire for needed change is to sobering to take serious.
Therefore, we stay our course even if it means forever floundering on a sea of adversity. Those familiar pennies we save are worth nothing if they are not spent remembering our time.
As I toss upon my bed of leaves, an echoing melody from Milton begins to haunt me. ‘As when the sun..From behind the moon in dim eclipse disastrous twilight, sheds’ with those words a lone in my mind I drift off to sleep, knowing I have spent a penny remembering a distant time.
I'm with Sir Richard. Your thoughts enrich me and is a collection of poetry I will keep.
Blessings and love,
Susan

Especially these lines: To be or not to be,
Therefore, we stay our course even if it means forever floundering on a sea of adversity.
Great line imo:
it seems humanity’s judgments are as murky as pennies in a glass of wine,
