I was just thinking about all our den family friends that

are just not around anymore...there are so many of them

just gone....most of them I considered friends. Not talking

about those who died...just those who left the den for some

reason...I do miss them around.

This is just not the same anymore!!
A stark hard cold atmosphere is what I feel...the warmth

just not there anymore!

************

“Silent Tears Runs Freely”

I walk through my front door

And switched on the light

And in a panicked way

Fireflies and mayflies buzz around

Like they do around a light by night

I look deep into the night

Beyond the light it is very dark

Pitch black

I can hear hundreds of crickets and cicadas

Rubbing their wings unseen

Producing a clamorous chorus

I smile…knowing they are at ease

There is nothing out there to hurt them

I am just staring out

At a absolute black sky

I pull my coat closer to my body

And embrace myself

Trying to make me feel warmer

I listen to the crickets screeching

And I think about my disturbed life

Within the walls behind me

And I can’t help it

The tears crowd the crickets

And in darkness

Silent tears runs freely

Many of my favorites do seem to have vanished, Tinka - and I hope they return one day - but you are still here!

Lady Poet...this is a grand write. Remember this...no one is really gone...not as long as you have those memories. In the case of writers, their words remain as well and in each word a poet writes, he leaves a bit of him or her self.

Yours in verse,
E.

Tinka, this is so honest and free-flowing and heartfelt. The imagery is amazing. Yes, each writer is unique and makes an impression and fills a space no one else can. This is the beauty of poets. We are so lucky to be a part of a thriving community. For it to thrive, it must change and grow. It can't remain the same. But yes, we come to regard our fellow writers as family and miss them when they depart. You have been here quite awhile so you have probably seen many come and go. You pay them a fine tribute...

Tinka it is not whether they are still here or not. It is more about what impression and what affect their work had on themselves and others. I know a lot of writers are here that are ill, sick, or disabled (either physiclly or emotionally)and the writing no doubt helps them and may give hope to others who are reading. So never be sorry for the ones who aren't here but be grateful for the time they were and joyous of the new writers to come.

Big hug, shake the blues,

Felix

Wonderful write... wish I knew the answer, but I'll say the warm spring/summer months makes it hard to sit and read... even with friends...

We're not all gone, just busy doing other things. By the way, beautiful poem. Do you really have crickets screeching in the winter down there? Yikes, when does it get quiet? ~ Sara

Yes Tinka, We've been here a long time and have seen many come and go. However holidays and certain times of the year means the loss of many for various reasons and most will be back. In the meantime it gets very quiet. We just have to pull together and make it warmer;-) Wonderful poem, Sis!

Love,
Eileen

A tear filled write full of melancholy. Yes, the den has changed and the warmth has gone with it to a degree. Too many good poets have departed that I miss also.

You are a very caring person. I can imagine your feeling and the tears that runs freely in silence. I have such a feeling just last month when a close neighbour of mine moved out to greater things in another state.
Good write!
