The crowd roared
Shouting Ayden once more
A hot summer day.
The score is 6 to 5
Top of the 9th
Bases loaded
3 balls, 2 strikes
And 2 outs.
His brawl soaked
From dripping sweat
Into the corner of his eyes
He knew, with a blurred sight
Through this inning
He had to get by.
Leaned over
Gloved hand on bend knee
Ball hand resting behind
On his hip.
Staring down, towards home plate
Looking for a good sign
As he rotated the ball
To feel the stitching
For a planned fast ball.
Several signs by the catcher
Were rejected
Found his way
To one he desired
Nodding in agreement.
He starts his windup
Going through it
Without a stop
At 75 MPH.
Silence
shrouded the playing field
All eyes and ears
Are towards, the home plate's
Umpire.
..........Striiiiiiiike!!!!!!
The whole little league field
Went into a roar
fans on their feet yelling
Ayden!, Ayden!, Ayden!,
Shouting for Ayden!, once more.
He was only 9 years old
Knee high to a grasshopper

I always love to stop while on the road and take a break watching a little league ball game...much better than watching the Phillies or Indians taking a beating...the kids are better sports...but the parents are absolutely crazy...Ed
Outstanding William, be sure to frame this one for Ayden it is a treasure he will want to always keep....You are a very special grandpapa...

Wow! William this is fantastic. What a great capture of the moment and I bet Ayden will love it. Make sure you keep it for him. These writings become much more meaningful the older they get.;-)
