Surprised

~*~

A spider Rushed across

My kitchen tiled floor

In a panic to escape

Her destiny

I stepped on her fragileness

She broke into many pieces

And hundreds

Of tiny spider lings

Scattered in all directions

I found myself

In a stomping frenzy

Like a dancer

Doing the flamingo

In a dark night

I turned the lights on

I don’t know

If I surprised the spider

Or the Spider surprised me?

Wonderful and very different penning.
"Surprised" now I couldn't help but smile at this one William
Although the spider mommy perished must say I would have had to rid myself of that nasty thing too. Thoroughly enjoyed the way you assimilated your poetic words filled with many visuals. Fantastic pic too.

William are those the actual spiders that were on the floor?
Hope you are doing well my friend,
Gwendolyn

Been there, many years ago, had that happen to me. I never regretted killing a spider more than at the moment I saw all those babies rushing to find sanctuary from the beast who killed their mother. I liked this version better.

I think they can sense us before we see them! Mostly I just give them there space, and they give me mind. I can stand to kill them!

Reviewed on March 11, 2009
usually they surprise us, when I see them I let them go on their way, they eat other unwelcomed bugs

Having had a similiar experience with a Trap Door spider I understand the panic. Your poem has given everyone the creep crawlies. They do however serve a purpose in that they kill more bugs than birds do. They only live for about a year and 99% of them are harmeless. They're more afraid of you than you are of them. Since "spider lings scattered in every direction" she most probably was looking for a place to nest to lay her eggs. There are organic based barrier sprays you can use around windows and doors that will keep any out of your house. Sorry to take up space rambling but I believe everything has a purpose and have a problem killing a housefly.

Marcia

Scaring our lil'brother is bad bad & more bad, don't get too comfy because PeeWee sleeps with a couple of them on his chest, and those beauties are like two pounds ninjas (so big they are)
For my part I will rat on you to Ma dearest.

Spiders are full of surprises, be very careful, which ones you try to stomp!

As for my brother Matlack, don't tell him, but I'm sending him a nice box!!
