The Walker
~~~*~~~
I walk for my health
As per my doctor
Walk but walk
At a natural pace.
I see walkers walking
With the company
Of friends
I guest to keep
Themselves
From boredom.
I walk alone
Like the lone wolf
Lupus, El Lobo
Just me and my creator
Why do you walk alone?
I am often asked.
I walk alone to focus
On my thoughts
Nourishing my mind
looking into my soul
concentrating
On my destination.
Like the lone wolf
That focuses solely
On the art of the hunt
To capture his prey
Satisfying his thirst
For blood
And the flesh
He needs for his survival
I focus solely
On my prey
Reaching my destination
To finish the walk,
For upon my set goal
I'll thank God.
Maneuvering an about face
Returning to
The beginning of my trek
Slowly one step at a time
As the mild winds
Of the evening
Rinse my body's soul.
William. I enjoyed reading your fine poem today. It refelects the walk with God, just you and the spirit. Reflecting your soul purpose just to
set your mind, body and soul free.
My kinda walking, William; companionship along the way is good but alone with your Creator and the natural world is even better. So many ways in which to read this one, all of them a tonic. xx
I can't agree more, walking alone with your thoughts is far superior than with a companion.
Before we invented the infernal fossil fuel guzzling commuting contraption with all its luxurious amenities, most people walked as part of daily life. Walking allows the thought processes to operate well, especially when alone. I miss the long walks I used to take, alert to nature and with no other purpose in mind. To look at walking like some kind of programmed exercise to meet some kind of "goal" for the day, is a travesty of our times when everything is multitasked and required by our doctors.
I can "see" the lone wolf unseen but walking in your shadow. Both of you preparing yourself for what lies unknown before you.
Love ya!
Walking is good for one's health; and being alone while walking can refresh our minds and think more clearly. I love how you set the atmosphere in this, comparing yourself to the lone wolf.
