The nights are long...you search the streets
Never the equal of you...to meet
A little is here...a little is there
Never enough to completely compare
The ego of one with the I'd of another
Desire to suck in, entrap and to smother
The dreams that escape...the victim suspect
The space of lost time while senses detect
The smile so inviting...sameness of heart
Faces of souls...shadows...a spark
Eyes that hold images, locking to same
Passing in darkness, whispering your name
Scars of soft tissues embedded in souls
Hearts reaching out breaking the mold.
Faces are masked asking to dance
Nights showing promise, passions with chance
As long as I'm walking...my steps on each stone
Streets full of people...in pairs or alone....
Showing their love and blending in grays
When sun hits the shadows, then I've seen better days
But challenge, an issue for each further step
Is progress in finding the I'd with my depth
For romance is one thing that love just can't hide
And if wishes were horses then fools would still ride.
Lols..at Jerry's comments below...so very true I suspect, Susan !
If you can't find your perfect mate in this world, my advice would be stay on your own...:)

Totally brilliant, Susan, and I admire your choice and brevity - given the "amorphous" and "invasive" aspects of this state of mind into absolutely EVERY nook, cranny, detail and minute split-second of life when one is thus consumed. "If wishes were horses then fools would still ride" is an expression which is now firmly embedded into my soggy grey matter... And the search goes on, the restlessness continues. Great poem, TY Kate xx
Oh we do. But with each misstep we come closer to knowing "the I'd with depth" and can recognize him as such when he's there. Nothing wasted. Great write, Susan...

Yep. We'd mount up and gallop over the cliff each and every time with a grin on our face and a broken heart inside our chests.
Suspenseful and close to home, Rain of Deception 2 will leave you in Tears. Much like Part 1, this will shocking sequel will keep you on the edge of your fingertips.
