You can be a visionary, for you often have more ideas about tomorrow than information about today. This is a good time to connect with other big thinkers to share ideas about how to create a better future. This might not be an exercise in practicality, but it does paint some beautiful pictures that can inspire you.

Poem Artwork

Beautiful pictures inspire me
From days gone amid wisdom to share
For teachings of old that appeared neglected
Seemed wiser from thoughts in my head
I never was much on attention
While daydreams acted their role
The teacher would clout all the facts for us kids
While thinking for me was much bolder
I'd hear her off in the distance
Seemed she rapped with marvelous applause
In my head just as she was teaching
I'd mentor aloud... just because
The class would all roar in laughter
Then bring me back to my feet
Embarrassed and red from this lesson
I was offered the floor to teach
With yardstick held over my shoulders
I'd glamorize her rule of thumb
End up with the attention of many
Then sent to the corner a Dunce
She'd catch my attention by banging her fist
Upon her oak desk with a sway
I'd offer up as a visionary
Give more information that way
I knew I'd missed what she taught me
Bowed head condesending in sorrow
Then I'd have the last word...so help me God
With ideas just for tomorrow
Afterall I was a visionary
With much wiser thinking than many
A Pisces of eager perception
A dreamer from many demensions
A kid just thinking in poetry
A blonde with freckles enmass
Smart as a whip...so help me God
Then offer "Ya can all kiss my ass".

Just love the ending, totally killer! That's the trouble with the education system especially here in the UK, they don't teach people how to use their imaginations or actively encourage creative thinking...one of the reasons I left the profession. Excellent piece Susan.

I was a teacher once and know how difficult it is to impart knowledge especially if your listeners are not attentive. Loved your poem. Victor

C'mon, Susan... you're just an early version of a sweet but naughty Southern Belle. A blonde bombshell, who hasn't stop for a minute... in living it her way! Eenjoyed your way of telling it all, and wonder if you've changed a dang bit. Probbly not.. and why shuld you?

Anyone can try to teach us anything, but there are some things that we can only learn from ourselves and some things we just see and know, and don't really understand why, that defy the teachings of conventional thinking, The only knowledge that is worthwhile is the knowledge that brings about good. In school we were taught that no matter what winning is better than losing and that there's no excuse for failure and that was good for most of us I suppose, but it was far from the truth. Excellent Pierre.

Praise to the slow learners, visionaries and pure spirits in the knuklehead school meat grinder. Defy the norm and defy all the forms.
Ah Susan you were probably the teachers favorite without knowing it, that is if the teacher was in the know.
Love it...

This poem grabbed me from the moment I saw the graphic and it held me until the end. Then I had to get up and walk around until I stopped laughing at the last line. Great poem with a killer punch line. I love it Susan. It reminds me of the times before I got kicked out of the convent.
Hugs, Marcia
