There it rests in the reeds
Along a quiet marsh
Darkened wood with rusted sutures
Weather worn and harsh
One lone oar lays aside
A crabtrap tossed and broken
The quiet breaks for a small sloop
Shiney, new and oaken
Between the two the memory
Lies in the older boat
For painted flakes that dot the sides
For the memories still afloat

When you gives us a life's lesson no on can flesh out the ebbs and tides quite like my friend Susan . . . At the end of the day . . . Still some painted flakes dot the life that was . . . Amazingly accurate . . .
