WANDERIN MAN
RUNNIN FROM THE LAW
PART I
Got the pedal to the metal,
grindin her through the gears,
runnin from the law,
and tryin ta outrun tha tears.
She died in tha seat beside me,
yet I got no time ta mourn,
life don’t smell like roses,
but it’s sure got all the thorns
I’m haulin ass down Ol Dixie
with mah eyes on tha rearview mirror,
watchin fer flashing lights,
hopin ta get away clear.
Tain’t likely I can outrun em,
prob’ly shouldn’t even try,
but I had ta get out ‘a there,
don’t want nobody seein me cry.
I’m sure they’ve got mah description,
mor’n likely tha tag number too,
tryin ta escape’em
is prob’ly a foolish thing ta do.
I’m jist lookin fer a way out,
an a place ta swap out this ride,
plannin ta drown mah sorrows,
if’n I can find a place ta hide.
Momma didn’t raise no dummies,
least wise it’s what my brother said
I’m a thinkin if I keep on a runnin,
mor’n likely I’ll wind up dead.
Got the pedal to the metal,
Runnin’er through the gears
while I’m runnin from the law,
an tryin to outrun the years.
